Uncle Jim’s Doily Pattern

A doily pattern for the ages - this is a wonderfully easy pattern.

What you need

Size 10 thread, any color you want; size 7 steel hook.

Instructions

Gauge: Not important.

Special Stitches: Picot – sc, ch 3, sl st in 1st sc, sc.

Ch 10, sl st in beg ch to form ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch1), (dc, ch 1) 17 times. Join with sl st to 2rd ch of beg ch 4.

Rnd 2: Sl st into 1st ch 1 sp, ch 4 (dc, ch 1 in next ch 1 sp) 17 times. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 4.

Rnd 3: Sl st into 1st ch 1 sp, ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), (dc, ch 2) 17 times. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 5.

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in ch 2 sp, (2 dc in next dc, 2 dc in ch 2 sp) 17 times. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 3. (72 dc)

Rnd 5: Sl st in next dc, ch 1, sc in same st (ch 8, sk 7 dc, sc in next dc) 8 times, ch 8. Join with sl st in beg sc (9 ch 8 sps).

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same sp (ch 2, sk 2 dc, 2 dc in ea of next 4 chs, sk 2 dc, ch 2, sc in sc) 8 times; ch2, sk 2 dc, 2 dc in ea of next 4 chs, ch2, sl
st in beg sc.

Rnd 7: Sl st in ea ch and 1st dc, ch 4 *(dc, ch 1) in ea dc 7 times, dc in last dc, sk 2 ch 2 sps and sc, (dc, ch 1) in ea dc) 7 times*. Repeat from *
to * around. Join last dc to 3rd ch of beg ch 4.

Rnd 8: Sl st in next ch 1 sp, ch 4, (dc, ch 1) in ea ch 1 sp, Sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 4.

Rnd 9: Sl st in next ch 1 sp, ch 3 (dc in next 10 sts), * sk 2 dc and 1 ch 1 sp (dc in next 10 sts)*. Repeat from * to * 8 times. Join last dc to 3rd
ch of beg ch 3.

Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc in same st *(ch 5, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st)*, Repeat from * to * around. Ch 2, dc in 1st sc to make last loop.

Rnd 11-12: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 5, sk 2 dc, sc in next dc around to last loop, ch 2, dc i 1st sc to make last loop.

Rnd 13: Ch 1, sc in same space (ch 6, sc in ea loop below) around. Sl st in beg sc.

Rnd 14: Sl st in next ch 6 loop, 5 hdc in ea ch 6 loop around. Sl st to beg hdc.

Rnd 15: Ch 1, sc in same st (sc, picot, 3 sc) to last picot, work picot, sc in last 2 sts, then sl st in beg sc.

Fasten off.

Weave in ends.

  1. Row 6 says to ch 2, sk 2 dc, 2 dc in ea of next 4 chs, sk 2 dc, ch 2. .
    sorry but there are no dc in row 5.
    I think someone should have crochet this before posting it.

    I have done rows one to 4 twice but don’t end up with 72 double chains ???

  3. Very nice pattern but could Rows 10 and 11-12 be in the wrong order?
