Make free form candles using damp sand to make these wonderfuly fun shaped candles without a mold.
Take your sand and dampen it till its quiet moist and firm, a good consistaincy to follow is to make it like a sandcastle mix.
Using your hand shape into the sand a rounded hole, this is where you will pour in the wax.
You can counter sink the wick or add it later using a hot skewer to make a hole.
Let the wax sit overnight and pull it out of the mold be lifting it out of the sand. Remove any loose sand by brushing it off with a paintbrush.
The hotter your wax at pouring the thicker the sand crust will become it really depends on your own design idea.

thankyou so much--
it has been years since I have made these
you are a great help
I have made sand candles many years ago,we put a round candle in the center and then added wax around that, in the outer wax we put drift wood or shells. we also used a blow torch to secure the outer sand. The ideas are great, but the photos are bad.
i absolutely love this web-site... you guys are great, thank-you.
Awsome! Could you make the "molds" a different shape, not just roundish?
