How to make Pet Heat Pack *No Sew* - DIY Craft Project from Craftbits.com
Project rating Project rating Project rating Project rating
  • 1 odd Sock
2 cups of Rice or Wheat
    Rubber bands

Take the old sock, or new sock and fill it with the rice. Leave enough room to tie a knot in the top of the sock. If you are using a smaller sock then use a rubber band.

This small heat pack can be used in pet beds under their blanket.

Heat in the microwave for 1 1/2 Min's on high.

While I WOULD sew the opening & would try NOT to leave the pet alone with it, I think it's a great idea. I've cut a human cozy wrap down to size for my dog to use when she has earaches and she finds it soothing. I'd also use rice, wheat is an allergy food. I'd heat @ 20--30 sec intervals for direct contact. Test on your wrist/face for temp control. Would work great on sore human ears too!

Nice Idea... I only worry about someone getting it too hot and not realizing it burning the pet unintentionally...

Not brilliant. The dog/Cat, looks and plays with socks, Tugging, Tossing, etc. Imagine them getting hold of this, the tug it, the Rubberband (lol) breaks, then the Rice. That is a really expensive VET bill. I make these all the time, but for HUMANS.............

I think that this is a great idea, I made it using a 50p flannel, sewing it together, and adding lavender, I never knew that you could actually make them at home, Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is such a great idea! And you can make it from stuff lying around the house. Thanks so much!

While it's not a good idea for summer, this would be great for my cat come winter. =3
