*Master Mix Recipe Base
9 cups sifted all-purpose flour or
10 cups sifted soft wheat or cake flour
1/3 cup baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups shortening which does not require refrigeration
This master mix is a pre-prepared mix for Gifts in a Jar Recipes.
Stir baking powder, salt, cream of tartar and sugar into flour. Mix in shortening till it resembles a crumbly mix. Store in covered containers at room temperature.
This mix makes 13 cups of pre-made mix.

This is what I've been looking for for a long time! I've been trying to find a good mix that I could pre-make and keep for awhile. I've used one that's store-bought, but it didn't give me the results I was looking for. Thanks for this recipe! (at first I didn't see the ingredient list..but looked a second time and found the "materials" needed!)
How much are you meant to use? What do you bake it at? Pretty vague recipe!
