Knitted Drawstring Wrist Purse

This free knitting pattern shows you how to knit an adorable draw string bag.

What you need

About 100 yards of worsted weight/8 ply yarn, as well as short lengths of color for stripes, if desired.
Pair of size 6 US (4mm) knitting needles
yarn needle
crochet hook or set of 2 double-pointed needles

Instructions

Finished bag is about 10 inches (26 cm) tall.

Knitting the Base

Cast on 12 sts.

Kfb in first st, k across, kfb in last st.

K 1 row.

Repeat these 2 rows until there are 26 sts.

K 10 rows straight.

K2tog in first st, k across, k2tog in last stitch

K 1 row.

Repeat these 2 rows until 12 sts rem.

Bind off.

Knitting the Side of the Bag

Cast on 74 sts.

Work in stockinette stitch for 48 rows, changing colors for stripes as desired.

Next right side row, *k4, BO 1. Repeat from * across.

Next row, *k4, make 1. Repeat from * across.

K 6 rows.

Bind off.

Use yarn and needle to sew up side seam. Pin the bag body to the base and sew together.

Make a crocheted chain or small I-cord using double-pointed needles to serve as the drawstring. Thread through the eyelets and add beads if desired.
