Ghost Lollipop Cover: Crochet Halloween

Crochet this fun Halloween inspired lollipop cover that looks like a ghost!

What you need

Small amount of 100% cotton thread, (White)
Steel crochet hook, size 8, usa (1.50 mm) Finishing Materials:
2 (1/4″) plastic eyes
Glue
Tootsie Roll lollipop
Small amount of orange yarn
Small amount of black thread (for mouth) (optional)

Instructions

Beg. 3 dc cluster: Ch 2, (yo, insert hook in same st, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, yo, draw through last 3 loops on hook, ch 1 to complete the stitch.

3 dc cluster: (Yo, insert hook in st, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times, yo, draw through last 4 loops on hook, ch 1 to complete the stitch.

Ghostly Cover:

Rnd 1) Ch 4; 14 dc in 4th chain from hook; join with a slip st to 4th chain of beg. ch 4: 15 dc.

Rnd 2) Ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), dc in same st; * 2 dc in next dc; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to first dc: 30 dc.

Rnd 3) Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc; * dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to first dc: 35 dc.

Rnd 4) Ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc; * dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to first dc: 40 dc.

Rnd 5) Ch 3, dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc; * dc in next 7 dc, 2 dc in next dc; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to first dc: 45 dc.

Rnd 6) Ch 3, dc in next 6 dc, dec over next 2 dc; * dc in next 7 dc, dec over next 2 dc; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to first dc: 40 dc.

Rnd 7) Ch 4, skip next dc; * dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to 3rd chain of beg ch 4: 20 sps.

Rnd 8) Ch 1, sc in joining, sc in next space; * sc in next dc, sc in next space; repeat from * around; join with a slip st in first sc: 40 sc.

Rnd 9) Ch 6, dc in joining, skip next dc, 3 dc cluster in next dc; * skip next dc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next dc, skip next dc, 3 dc cluster in next dc; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to 3rd chain of beg ch 6, slip st in space.

Rnd 10 Beg 3 dc cluster in same space, (dc, ch 3, dc) in top of next cluster; * 3 dc cluster in next space, (dc, ch 3, dc) in top of next cluster; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to top of first cluster.

Rnd 11) Ch 6, dc in joining, 3 dc cluster in next space; * (dc, ch 3, dc) in top of next cluster, 3 dc cluster in next space; repeat from * around; join with a slip st to 3rd chain of beg ch 6.

Rnds 12-14) Repeat Rnds 10 & 11 respectively ending with Rnd 10. Fasten off, secure ends.

Finishing: Slip lollipop inside the cover. Thread a tapestry needle with a 7″ length of orange yarn and weave through Rnd 7. Tie in a bow at front just underneath the lollipop pulling the yarn tie taut drawing the cover to fit snugly around the lollipop. Glue eyes to front of ghost, aligning with bow. Glue a small clipping of thread to face for mouth.

  2. Can do the same thing with kleenex, black yarn tied around and use a marker for the facial features for an easy kids project.

  3. I love this because its amazing. It’s so creative on how we do things. I just love it when people go out in the dark and scare me and I’m just in a stupid costume no one will like. Then the horrible night continues… it was when this horrible roar came!!
