Felted Coin Purse

  • 8mm knitting needles
    20gm felting yarn
    Any pure handwash wool will felt thinner yarn will make thinner felt chunky yarn will make thick chunky felt!

This simple pattern uses only 2 needles and stocking stitch to create a felted purse.


Abbreviations k =knit


p = purl


K2tog = Knit the next 2 stitches together


sl st =slip stitch from one needle to other without knitting into it.


Cast on 20 stitches


*sl st1, knit 19


sl st1, purl 19 *


repeat these 2 rows until you have 40cm


Finish on a purl row


k1, K2tog, k14, k2tog, k1 (18st)


Purl 1 row


Cast off loosely knit wise.


Measure from under the knitting needle to the cast on edge


Sew in the end of the wool weaving in the end along the cast off edge.


Making up


Fold up 14cm from the cast on edge right side out. Ladder stitch the folded edges together through the slipped stitches.
