Free Crochet Coffee Cup Cozy Pattern – Easy Reusable Cup Sleeve

Free Crochet Coffee Cup Cozy Pattern – Easy Reusable Cup Sleeve

There is something very satisfying about a quick crochet project that is actually useful, and this crochet coffee cup cozy is exactly that. It uses only a small amount of yarn, works up quickly in half double crochet, and turns an ordinary takeaway coffee cup into something much cuter than a disposable cardboard sleeve.
This easy crochet coffee cup cozy pattern is perfect for beginners, market stall makes, teacher gifts, office gifts, or last-minute handmade Christmas presents. Make it plain and simple, add a ruffled edge, or use a contrast yarn for a fun trim. It is also a brilliant scrap yarn crochet project, especially if your yarn basket has those little leftover balls that are too pretty to throw away but not quite enough for anything bigger. We all have them. Probably more than we admit.

Work sc evenly through both layers along the short edge to close the cozy into a sleeve.

Fasten off here if you would like a plain coffee cup cozy.

Optional Ruffled Edge

If you would like to add the ruffled edge, do not fasten off after joining.

Round 1: Ch 1. Work sc evenly around one edge of the cozy. Sl st to join.

Round 2: Ch 3. Work dc, ch 2, dc in the same stitch.

Work 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in each stitch around. Sl st to join.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Other Finishing Ideas

For a fun textured edge, join eyelash yarn or a contrasting yarn where you finished joining the cozy. Work sc evenly around the edge, then fasten off and weave in the ends.

You can also add buttons, small appliques, flowers, or a simple stitched label to make each cozy a little different.

Enjoy your handmade coffee cup cozy!
