This pattern makes a soft, light and warm blanket suitable for the elderly or those who are disabled or unwell because it is not heavy. I have made loads of these!
Use yarn double throughout.
Chain the width you want.
1 double crochet (tr in UK or Australia) into each chain for two or three rows. Change colour in last stitch of 3rd row. Continue in this way until it is as long as you want, finish off.
Edge with reverse single crochet.
Visit our charity crafts page for listings of groups in your area who collect and donate these crochet items to charity.

Thanks Yvonne!
I made a similar afgan as a baby blanket. Jst chained till it was "wide enough" and crocheted till it was "long enough". I single crocheted in the back loop to give it some nice texture and carried three strands: two solids and a varigated. Finished it with tons of fringe.
i am making this, but ut turns out that it is a little small toi be a blkanket, so i am going to use it as a fut blanket!!!
I haven't made it yet, but sounds quick and fun
I made this blanket in about 2 weeks, went quickly and easy and was fun. Made another right after that. Great pattern, thanks.
ALL blankets/afgans take time, even baby blankets, if you don't want to put in the time it takes--don't make a blanket!
great gift item, easy to make. Thanks so sharing the pattern.
