Cast on 46 sts
1st row knit into the back of each stitch now continue in garter stitch until your work measures 5" then begin to decrease.

Knit 6, k2 together to end.
Knit 1 row
Knit 5, k2 together to end.
Knit 1 row
Knit 4, k2 together to end.
Knit 1 row
Knit 3, k2 together to end.
Next row k2 together to end.
Next row k2 together to end.

Thread yarn through remaining stitches and fasten off.

Ear Covers (make 2)

Cast on 4 sts
knit twice into the 1st stitch of the next 14 rows.
Cast off.

Stitch into position on the hat
now thread a length of wool through the cast on edge of 4 sts.

This section when platted will make the chin cord.
