Using 2 strands of 8 ply brown and black 7mm needles
Cast on 40stitches
Knit 1 row
Next row K1p1
(Theses 2 rows form the pattern.)
Continue in pattern for 24 rows
Now begin shaping the shoulders
On the knit row - k8 (k2 tog) 3 times k12 (k2 tog) 3 times k8

Head
With k row facing-
(K1 m1) 8 times k3 (k1 m1)8 times (34) sts
Continue in pattern for 16 rows
Top of head-
With k row facing
( k2 k2 tog)to the end
Patt 1row
(k1 k2 tog) to the last 2 sts k2
Patt 1row
(K2tog ) to the end
Thread yarn through stitches and fasten off.
Base - still with 2 strands of body colour cast on 6sts
P1row
Inc into the first and last stitch of this and every alternate row until you have 10 sts
St st 4rows
K2tog at the beginning and end of this and every alternate row until 6stitches remain.
Cast off.
Face - this is knitted separately and stitched on top of the head section.
With flesh colour single thread and size 8 US(4mm) needles cast on 12 sts
St st 4 rows
Inc at the beginning of the next 8 rows (20)sts
St st 8 rows
Dec at the beginning of the next 8 rows
St st 4rows
Cast off.
Use dark brown to make the hair, stitch into place secure at the back.
Stitch your features on with coloured wool
And set aside until your body is filled
Scarf - cast on 10 stitches and in garter stitch continue until it measures 24inches.
