Instructions
This Apple Tart Soap is a sweet little melt and pour soap project that looks good enough to serve with a cup of tea. With clear glycerin soap, warm cinnamon, apple pie fragrance oil, and a fluffy whipped soap topping, it has all the cozy charm of a homemade dessert without needing any complicated soap-making techniques.
This is a great beginner-friendly soap recipe because it uses a melt and pour base, which means there is no lye handling or advanced cold-process soap making involved. The finished soap has a rustic apple tart look and makes a lovely handmade gift for fall, teacher gifts, market stalls, Christmas hampers, or anyone who loves apple pie scents.
For an extra pretty presentation, wrap each bar in clear cello or kraft paper and tie it with twine. A dried apple slice, cinnamon stick, or small handmade tag makes it feel especially gift-worthy.
Cut the clear glycerin melt and pour soap base into small cubes and place it into a heat-safe jug or bowl.
Melt the soap base gently in the microwave in short bursts, stirring between each one, until fully melted. Do not overheat the soap, as this can affect the finished texture.
Stir in the liquid soap, liquid glycerin, apple pie fragrance oil, ground cinnamon, and red coloring. Mix well so the cinnamon and color are evenly blended through the soap.
Pour the mixture into your chosen mold. A small round mold works well if you want the finished soap to look like an individual apple tart.
Lightly spray the surface with rubbing alcohol if bubbles appear on top. Leave the soap to harden completely before adding the topping.
To make the whipped cream effect, melt a small amount of white melt and pour soap base. Allow it to cool slightly, then whisk it until it starts to thicken and become fluffy.
Dollop the whipped white soap onto the hardened apple tart soap to create a cream topping. Work quickly, as whipped melt and pour soap can set fast.
Allow the finished soap to harden fully before removing it from the mold.
Package the soap in clear wrap, kraft paper, or a small gift box. Add dried apple rounds, a cinnamon stick, or a handmade label for a beautiful homemade gift finish.
Notes to Add
Because this recipe contains ground cinnamon and fragrance oil, it is best used as a novelty hand soap rather than on sensitive skin. Always use skin-safe fragrance oils and soap-safe colorants where possible.
